Affiliate & ad disclosure
Short version: nothing on this page right now is paid or affiliate. If that changes, every paid element will be clearly labeled and will not influence our fair-price calculations.
Today
- We run no display advertising.
- We have no affiliate links. Every "View original listing" link is the raw seller URL, unmodified.
- We accept no payment from sellers or marketplaces to surface, promote, or de-prioritize any product.
- We earn no revenue from the site at all — it's currently funded out of pocket.
What might change later
To keep core price data free for buyers, we may eventually introduce revenue streams. When we do, this page will be the single source of truth for what's paid and what isn't.
If we add display ads
- Ads will live in clearly-defined slots (top of product page, sidebar, below the price table, bottom of guide articles). They will never be styled to look like our content.
- Ad slots will be labeled "Advertisement" or "Ad" inside the slot itself — not hidden in tiny text below.
- We will not run ads from networks that profile buyers across sites without consent (no Google AdSense personalized ads; contextual only).
If we add affiliate links
- Affiliate links would only appear in buyer guide articles (chargers, cases, bags, adapters — never the main product listings).
- Every affiliate link will be tagged with
rel="sponsored"per Google's webmaster guidelines. - Each guide that contains an affiliate link will carry a plain-English disclosure at the top: "This guide contains affiliate links — if you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you."
- Affiliate revenue will never influence the buyer-warning text, decision verdict, or fair-price calculation on any product page.
If we accept sponsored seller placements
- Sponsored listings will be labeled "Sponsored" and visually separated from the analytical listings.
- Sponsored listings will be excluded from the fair-range, median, suspicious-low, and overpriced calculations. They will not be part of the statistical sample.
- The methodology page will be updated to document the exclusion, and the count of excluded sponsored listings will be visible on each affected product page.
Why we're writing this now, before any of this exists
Trust is easier to keep than to recover. We'd rather commit to the rules in public — before there's any incentive to bend them — so you can hold us to them if things change. If you ever spot something on the site that looks paid but isn't disclosed, email us and we'll fix it.
