Privacy
Short version: we collect very little, store nothing we don't need, and never sell it.
What we collect
- Price alerts. If you create one, we store your email address, the product you chose, and your target price. That's it. We use the email to send the alert and nothing else.
- Basic request logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard access logs — IP, user agent, requested URL — for a short retention window. We don't tie these to identities.
- Listing data we collect from public sources. Titles, prices, conditions, cities, and the source URL of public marketplace listings. We don't copy seller phone numbers, photos, or any other personal data. See the methodology page for how this works.
What we don't do today
- No advertising right now. If we add ads later, every paid placement will be labeled and disclosed on the affiliate & ad disclosure page. We won't add ad networks that profile buyers across sites without consent.
- No selling, sharing, or licensing your email to anyone.
- No background tracking — we don't currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any cross-site tracker.
- No scraping behind logins or anti-bot walls. We only read pages that a normal browser can reach, and we respect each site's
robots.txtand rate limits.
Future analytics & advertising
If we add traffic analytics later, we'll use a privacy-respecting product (a self-hosted Plausible-style tool or similar) that doesn't set tracking cookies and doesn't transmit IP addresses in identifiable form. Any change will be announced here first and added to the cookies section below.
Display ads, if introduced, are governed by the rules on the affiliate & ad disclosure page.
Cookies
The public site sets no cookies. The administrative area at /admin sets one cookie (epw_admin) that holds a session token; this is HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax. It's only created when an admin signs in.
Email alerts: how to stop them
Every alert email contains a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. Your mail client (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail) also shows a native "Unsubscribe" button because we set the RFC 8058 List-Unsubscribe header on every send. Either path removes the alert immediately — no confirmation step.
Data retention
- Inactive alerts (unsubscribed) stay in our database with
active = false; we don't email them again. - Listings older than 90 days are eligible for cleanup; price snapshots are kept for trend history.
- Email addresses are removed on request — see contact below.
